This Korean-style dipping sauce (Pajeon Yangnyeom Jang) is the essential companion to vegetable pajeon. It’s savory, tangy, slightly spicy, and just sweet enough to round everything out. Mix, pour, dip, repeat.

Ingredients

  • 22 g 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 15 g 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 21 g 1 1/2 tbsp allulose syrup or 15 g 1 tbsp sugar

  • 5 g 1/4 tsp sambal oelek

  • 1 g 1/4 tsp toasted sesame oil

  • 3 g 1/4 of 1 green onion, finely sliced

  • 1 g 1/4 tsp sesame seeds

  • 15 g 1 tbsp water

Equipment

Directions

  • Before We Start

Sambal: Optional but we highly recommend sambal (chili garlic sauce) for depth.
Using Sugar Instead of Allulose: We love using allulose, since it is a natural alternative to sugar that doesn’t spike your glucose. You can substitute it with sugar by reducing the amount by roughly 1/3. So if you are needing 1 tsp of allulose, use just 2/3 tsp of sugar instead.
Storage: Keeps in the fridge for 3–4 days. Stir before using again and don’t add green onion or sesame seeds until ready to use.
  • Combine all ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sweetener, sambal, sesame oil, green onion, sesame seeds, and water.
  • Stir and serve

Whisk gently until well combined. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve with hot, crispy veggie pajeon or any savory snack.
